Forum suggestions

Post by admin »

Feel free to add suggestions for the forum in this thread.
If they have merit, they will be implemented (if not too difficult!).

I suggest that we lose this wording at the bottom of the home page:

FORUM PERMISSIONS

You cannot post new topics in this forum
You cannot reply to topics in this forum
You cannot edit your posts in this forum
You cannot delete your posts in this forum
You cannot post attachments in this forum

Why, because when we promote the forum elsewhere, it comes across as why bother joining, you cant post, reply, edit, delete and add an attachment, when infa t we can do all those things - food for thpught

Yes I agree. I'll look at that.
It appears because that top forum is locked, you can't do a post in there, only in the sub forums (its how I set it).

One of the disadvantages of this free software is that we have to live with what it provides, which is mostly pretty good.
Yes, one could customise it, like we used to pay someone to do. I'm not going there.
The correct way to deal with software like this, is to use extensions and approved changes as expected by the developers, but not modify the software directly, because that comes unstuck on the next update.
-Sorry, long answer.

... Done. (I had to edit the prosilver style, which is the only one on here so far.)

Methinks we need to get links to this forum out and about. Especially on the Ulysses Club website.

With the static nature of the Ulysses national website now, I doubt anyone visits it.
Everyone is too busy on Facebook, unfortunately.

Broken Hill branch has dropped off the national branches map for some reason. I wonder if they are the only ones.
I did alert their Facebook guy and their president, but nothing has happened. Either they don't think its important, or else admin have better things to do than keep the map correct.

I've just deleted a member wannabe whose IP address is in India.
Call me paranoid, but I doubt we have any Ulysses members there.

Fairly safe assumption, Ken.
